Avfälling / The Heretic

Deep in the Swedish forests, on a seemingly peaceful farm, darkness begins to creep in. The goal of Avfällning (The Heretic) is to create a psychological thriller about faith, loyalty – and what happens when the foundation you've built your entire life on begins to crack.A young man starts to see the fractures in the façade of the sect he’s been living in. What once felt sacred and safe slowly transforms into a world of punishment, paranoia, and violence. When words are no longer enough and the sense of belonging turns into control, he’s forced to ask himself the most dangerous question of all: Do I dare to leave?This is a concept, aiming to secure funding for a full-length feature film. With hypnotic cinematography by David E. Nilsson, intense direction by Linus Lundmark, and a powerful script by Lundmark and Gabriel Robert, our goal – both in this trailer and hopefully in the finished film – is to explore the seductive pull of cult mentality, and the terror it conceals.
